JAMES KELL
James Kell began his racing journey in 2019 in the ultra-competitive IAME Cadet class, quickly making a name for himself by setting track lap records.
His early talent was further proven in 2021 when he was crowned BIKC Leeds Champion, showcasing his speed and consistency in high-pressure indoor karting competition.
James then became the first driver to test an all-electric junior kart developed by Rob Smedley, former Ferrari and Williams Formula 1 race engineer, now leading the innovative FAT Karting project aimed at transforming the future of motorsport.
In 2022, James entered and won the prestigious XKART Scholarship, earning a fully funded season with the team. Since then, he’s delivered poles, race wins, and vice-champion honours, while also helping to lead the UK launch of TB Kart.
His performance and progression have now secured him a place with Coles Racing for the remainder of the 2025 British Kart Championships and the prestigious Kartmasters event, cementing his position as one of the UK’s most exciting rising stars in motorsport.
Winning the XKART Scholarship was a game-changer.
It provided a fully funded season in The Kart Championship for 2023, where I finished 18th, and continued support in 2024, helping me become Vice Champion the UK’s toughest category, Junior Rotax.
This opportunity allowed me to focus on developing my skills and competing at a higher level without financial worries. The personalised coaching and hands-on experience have been invaluable in refining my techniques and strategies.
